The emergency department is located at the right end of the building. This facility is a Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) which means that there is an emergency room doctor on site Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. (patients must be registered by 3 p.m.) and on weekends from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. (patients must be registered by 7 p.m.).

August 1 - September 30, 2018 The Emergency Department is closed to registration after 3 p.m. on weekdays and 7 p.m. on weekends.  After these hours, please proceed to your nearest open emergency department.  For advice from a registered nurse, call 811 or if you need help immediately, call 911.

When patients visit the emergency department during open hours, they are triaged by a registered nurse and non-urgent cases may be referred to see a doctor or nurse practitioner within the on-site primary health care centre.

From Monday to Friday there are evening appointments available in the Primary Care clinic for patients of the practice.  Same day appointments can be booked by calling 902-657-3523 after 2:30 p.m.

The Mental Health Crisis Line operates 24/7 at 1-888-429-8167.  This is a 24-hour, seven days a week phone service to help you or your loved one cope with mental health and addiction challenges in the moment.

Auxiliary

The Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has approximately 48 members and raises funds to help purchase items for the local hospital.

We have three major fundraisers per year. Since 2010 we have purchased over $75,000 worth of equipment for the Hospital. Currently we are working towards building a Healing Garden at the Hospital. This space will be a safe outdoor area for patients, family and healthcare providers to relax in the fresh air.

For more information on becoming part of our Auxiliary please email our President, Susan Stewart
