New Parking Gates Being Installed at Cape Breton Regional Hospital
Work is underway to install new control gates at three parking lots at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Control gates are being replaced first at the overflow staff parking lot located at the rear of the hospital. On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the gates will be replaced in the public parking lot at the rear of the hospital (across from the Mental Health entrance).
On Wednesday, Aug. 15, the front public parking lot northeast entrance (the one facing HealthPark and Membertou) will be closed to allow the installation of the new gate. While the northeast entrance is closed, people are asked to use the entrance at the top of the lot, across from the hospital’s main entrance, to gain access. Barriers will be removed to allow access to the front public parking lot. Temporary signage and extra security staff will be in place to help with directions.
The new gates are replacing the hospital’s original parking gates which are approximately 20 years old and can no longer be repaired/upgraded. The installation of the three new gates is expected to finish sometime on Thursday, Aug. 16
While the work is underway, people are asked to use caution and watch for vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the front of the hospital as well as in and around the parking lots. They are also asked to slow down and use caution on roadways near the hospital and as they enter and exit the parking lots.
People will still be able to access all of the hospital’s entrances as well as the drop off/pick up area in the front entrance.
Nova Scotia Health Authority appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this work is underway.
